*From the BlogHer annual conference in Chicago last week
- Some moms are doing less blogging because they are doing more tweeting.
- Certain bloggers don’t like doing giveaways because it takes too much time and effort. Others won’t review your product unless they can do giveaways.
- When it comes to conference swag, they feel that there’s either too much or too little.
- Bloggers have very strong opinions (see all post-BlogHer posts).
- When it comes to mom bloggers, some are simply more professional than others.

I truly wish more Marketers would realize how true #5 is. Some of the drama, name calling, and cat fights right now involve very heavily sponsored bloggers. Those companies who have their products featured on those blogs are looking pretty silly right now, and they probably don’t have a clue! I’m assuming here, but I’d wager to guess those companies just saw large stats and numbers coming from those blogs…and never bothered to research the women themselves.
Tiffany, thank you for your comment. I am really concerned that if there is too much negative pushback from the bloggers, and an overall perception of the group as not very professional as a result, companies are going to start looking for other ways to reach moms.
These lists make me smile. Especially the comment about how the swag is either “too much or too little”. Bwahaha.
Re: the drama
People compare the mom blogosphere to “high school”.
Personally I was an honor roll student with perfect attendance. If we got grades for blogging, I would want an “A”. I avoid the drama on the internet just like I did in school.
I think people are just being who they are, and for some, the result is an unprofessional image.
Well put — and thanks for the comment. Yes, there has been a bit too much drama!
