I also read this article and agree with the assessment – I think that brands sometimes miss the fact that there are defined segments in the female blogger market and we can expect each segment to have different needs. Of course, we’re all still trying to figure those needs out!

My take away from the NYT story was somewhat different than yours as I think articles like this tend to serve only to strengthen the mommy blogger, PR and brands targeting moms community as a whole. We are a growing force to be reckoned with and it’s good to see so many real moms like me who are astriving to work professionally in this field which is gaining respect and prestige. In summary, for sure, I believe that traditional media is bashing mommy bloggers, but at the same time the immediate/passionate response by mommy bloggers to Mendelsohn’s story was enpowering.
